RC Frame & Groundwork Subcontractor - £130 million turnover
Head office in Surrey with projects in and around West London & North London (this opportunity will be a roaming role).
About the Opportunity:
I have been asked to find a Contracts Manager for this business to add additional support to the management structure due to increased work levels. Currently, this business is turning over around £130 million per annum and with a large proportion of work around West London, North West London, East London and the Reading area. They need to recruit an additional contracts manager to help support the workload. It is crucial that suitable applicants have experience of working for rival concrete frame and groundwork subcontractors/principal contractors to be considered. I would like to add that this business is still growing year on year, and their reputation is that of a leading player in this market (i.e. top 10 concrete frame subcontractor in the UK).
About the Employer:
With a head office based in Surrey (the position will be to cover West London, North West London and the surrounding area) this RC frame & groundwork specialist currently turns over around £130 million per annum as a total across their main RC frame works, groundwork’s and their special works division with individual packages ranging from £5m up to £50m each. This company is privately owned with an MD that remains hands-on making sure standards are maintained in line with the superb reputation they hold. The company has a strong team mentality, with every member of the management structure working together towards common goals. The senior team quite often refers to the business as a well-oiled machine, where each cog has a vital part to play. They are proud of their ability to secure a lot of their work through repeat business, as clients prefer to come back to them to negotiate future projects rather than the business just having to win work at open tender stages with aggressive pricing strategies.
As a Contracts Manager within this team, your role will focus between pre-contract and post-contract activities, taking projects once they are secured and managing a selection of sites through to completion. Good management and operational skills need to be shown along with the technical knowledge gained from an engineering background and again a strong amount of experience in this role with a rival business. You will report directly to the Construction Director of the business as well as the MD.
About the Requirements:
I am looking for an individual who is degree qualified in civil engineering and has already progressed through the ranks up through project management to an existing contracts management level or a senior project manager who is ready for the step. You may be recently stepped up to this level or may have been doing it for a number of years, but it is crucial you have come from this sector background and have gained this technical management experience while working in the subcontract concrete frame and groundwork market.
About the Salary / Benefits:
Packages are always based on individuals’ backgrounds and experience but as a rough guide, I have been told to target people earning anywhere from £110,000 to £130,000 per annum. This can be broken down in a number of ways and this business is open to people of a PAYE or self-employed basis. Bonuses are paid and are based on usual performance targets on a quarterly basis as well as all the usual fringe benefits.
About Me, Your Consultant:
My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 15 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction, and demolition.
So, what does that mean for you? It means, I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you, but I can give you up to date information on each of them (the good parts and the less positive parts), helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. I’ve been doing this for a fair while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths, I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is to get you the options, give you the information, and then let you decide what feels right for you.
How to Apply:
I am more than happy to discuss this opportunity with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.
Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV/details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the option.
